Cathy Roche-Wells

Working in Special Education for 39 years has given Kathy the opportunity to see many changes in Special Education both from a Legislative and Department for Education perspective. Kathy has worked as a support teacher, teacher in mainstream and in an annexe class. She has had many leadership roles in the past 29 years.
Kathy believes that as an educational leader it is imperative to develop and maintain working relationships with others by implementing sound interpersonal and communication skills. These are invaluable skills in promoting and representing SA SEPLA as a member of the Executive. She is an active advocate for students with disability fostering a positive optimistic view. She works as a member of a team in a consultative and collaborative way.
As a member of SA SEPLA Kathy was involved in establishing our current purpose statement and trademarks. She has represented SA SEPLA at a number of planning committees ie Funding, Transition planning, review of NEP proformas, Child Protection Curriculum, WHS.
During Kathy's three and a half years on Exec she has worked to achieve the priorities in our Strategic Plan 2016-2018. She is currently representing SA SEPLA on The Council of Education Associations of South Australia (CEASA). As a member of Executive she continues to work with other Executive members in consultation with SA SEPLA members on issues relating to Special Education.
Kathy is Principal of Kilparrin and uses that position to further advocate for our students and organisation both Statewide and Nationally.
